Inconsolable Beginnings is interested in the phenomenology of urban spaces, areas that are endless, infinite in their myriad possibilities and potentialities. Despite predominantly lacking in human subjects, it does however consistently allude to a human presence. Acting as a gateway into an apocalyptic microcosm or highlighting a message from the region’s collective unconscious.
The portraits offer an internal and personal perspective. They should not to be seen as counter to the wider body of work but as a necessary, albeit ambiguous, linchpin into the dominant urban aesthetic. They mirror the underlying themes of transience, birth, rebirth and nature in a man-made environment.
